The George Eliot statue situated in the shopping centre, Nuneaton. The author George Eliot was born on a farm on the Arbury Estate just outside Nuneaton in 1819 and lived in the town for much of her early life. Mary Ann Evans known by her pen name George Eliot, was an English novelist, poet, journalist, translator and one of the leading writers of the Victorian era. The Mary Ann Evans Hospice is dedicated in her name.
