Cw 7040 Relining works at Bollington 12.2.2020. Winter works on the Macclesfield canal at Bollington. A bright winter’s day along side Clarence Mill as work continues to rebuild the canal on the Palmerston Embankment. This view is looking northwards past the mill towards the Suger Road bridge. There has been an ongoing problem with water leakage from the canal alongside the Clarence Mill in Cheshire for a number of years. As part of the winter 2019 -20 maintaince programme the Canal and River Trust have employed the contractors Kier to undertake a major rebuilding and relining of the canal here. The canal has been drained and work is underway to put in place new concrete was walls and a reinforced concrete bed to the canal. The work is budgeted to cost £1.2m. The canal has been closed from October 2019 and is expected to reopen on the 13th March 2020.
