The Villa Méditerranée is a public building located in the 2nd arrondissement of Marseille , on the J4 esplanade, in the Joliette district. It was originally intended to house conferences, meetings and exhibitions. It was inaugurated on April 7, 2013, closed inJanuary 2018, and reopened in 2022. The building, designed by the Italian architect Stefano Boeri and belonging to the regional council of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur , continued to attract criticism until it housed in 2022 the Cosquer Méditerranée museum , featuring a replica of the Cosquer cave
