The Stone of Anointing, also known as The Stone of Unction, which tradition claims to be the spot where Jesus' body was prepared for burial by Joseph of Arimathea. A place of prayer and pilgrimage for many Christians The Church of the Holy Sepulchre, also called the Basilica of the Holy Sepulchre, has been a paramount destination for many Christian pilgrims since the 4th century. The church is home to branches of Eastern Orthodoxy and Oriental Orthodoxy as well as to Roman Catholicism, Anglican and Protestant Christians. The site is said to be where Jesus was crucified and also to contain the place where Jesus was buried.
