The Jewish Quarter of Budapest was a lively, thriving and successful community until the events of 1944-45 when the Hungarian Arrow Cross Forces under the command of the German Nazis began to round up the Jews of Hungary. During the summer of 1944, only 10 months before the war ended, thousands of men women and children were deported to Auschwitz and other concentration camps.
