February 24, 2019 - Thessaloniki, Greece - Participants wearing traditional costumes dance as they march at the seafront of Thessaloniki. The Folklife and Ethnological Museum of Macedonia organized the fifth European assembly of bell bearers in Thessaloniki. The assembly took place in the context of the action ''Bell Roads'', which attempts to explore the customs of bell bearing in Europe. These are seasonal events of masquerade with eugenic and salutary meaning, dramatic performances that agrarian and pastoral communities developed, believing that they will protect their herds and crops. The ''Bell Roads'' reveal the common elements of these events with the parallel research of their diversity. (Credit Image: © Giannis Papanikos/ZUMA Wire)
