This black and white picture shows the landscape of terraced rice fields of the Honghe Hani Rice Terraces, one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites, in Yuanyang county, Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture, southwest Chinas Yunnan province, 9 July 2012. The Honghe Hani Rice Terraces have been cultivated by the people of Chinas Hani ethnic minority from generation to generation for more than 1, 200 years. There are about 170, 000 mu (28, 000 acres) of such rice terraces in Yuanyang county. The Honghe Hani Rice Terraces was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site on June 22, 2013, and became the 45th World Heritage Site in China, which surpassed Spain as the worlds second-largest country of the World Heritage Site following Italy.
