This colourful image is of the 10th century round-house chapel at the ruined medieval fortress of Ludlow Castle in Shropshire. Then castle was restored as a living fortress in the 16th century but suffered during the English Civil War, it was abandoned as a useful castle in 1689 and fell into neglect. Presently the castle is one of Ludlow's main tourist attractions.
