Tourists visit Chimelong Ocean Kingdom, the largest ocean theme park in the world, in Hengqin island of Zhuhai city, south China's Guangdong province, 28 January 2014. The world's biggest ocean theme park opened on Tuesday (28 January 2014) in Hengqin island of Zhuhai, Guangdong province, Chinanews.com reported. Chimelong Ocean Kingdom, situated in the Hengqin New Area of Zhuhai, covers 132 hectares (1.32 million square meters), the largest in the world. The park features the worlds biggest aquarium, which boasts a massive collection of whales, sharks and rare fish. The park and resort hotel, with total investment of 20 billion yuan ($3.3 billion), are owned by the Chime-Long Group, which runs China's biggest theme park, Chime-Long Paradise, in Guangzhou. Meanwhile, the park is linked to Macao by a new bridge and will be just half an hour's drive from the park when the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge is open, scheduled for 2016. Chief Executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region Chui Sai On attended the opening ceremony of the park.
