U.S. Navy Ensign Peter Larson uses an azimuth to find the heading to the amphibious assault ship USS Essex (LHD 2) from the landing dock ship USS Harpers Ferry (LSD 49) prior to a replenishment exercise with Essex in the Gulf of Thailand on Feb. 24, 2009. The Harpers Ferry and Essex are forward deployed to Sasebo, Japan.
