Using the flag draped hull of a barge moored in the Medway as the courthouse, the Admiral of Medway held court at Rochester. For centuries the Mayors of Rochester have been Admirals of the Medway, and this year the Mayor Admiral is Alderman I. C. Winch. The court controls 20 miles of the river fisheries and meets every year to hear disputes or applications brought by Free Fishers of the River Medway. 12 blue-jerseyed Free Fishers form the jury. 10 July 1937
