State with the ex-ception of the Colorado. It will reclaim 200, 000acres of highly fertile land. Bear lake, situated onthe line between Utah and Idaho, flows by a naturaloutlet into Bear river. This outlet will be dammedand a canal from far up Bear river above the Jakewill divert the flood waters of the stream into thereservoir thus created. The project will cost $5, -000, 000. It includes the main dam, three diversiondams and 150 miles of canals. Three states are in-terested, but the land to be reclaimed lies mainly inUtah. It consists of areas along Bear river inMarsh, Western Cache and Malad valleys. Theland is open to settlers and is provided with thebest railroad facilities. Improved land along Bearriver is now selling for $50 an acre. The third project is the Utah Lake enterprise.Thirty streams rush down from the Wasatch moun-tains and spread over the 125 square miles of surfaceconstituting Utah lake. TheJordan outlet is n feet higher than the bottom ofthe lake and the plan is to make an n-foot cut sothat the lake can be entirely drained in the summerand the water saved from evaporation. A dam willalso be constructed to impound the spring water andenough water will be saved in this way to irrigate50, 000 acres in the northern part of Utah county andin the southern part of Salt Lake county. The Weber River project is designed to bringunder cultivation 100, 000 acres. The Weber river issecond in size only to the Bear. Its normal flow willbe diverted by a short canal into Provo river andwill be used to reclaim the broad stretches of fer-tile land
