Xo. 74FEMME A LA CHEVRE BV CAMILLE PISSARRO Camille Pissarro French: 1831— fl°> 74—FEM ME A LA CHEVRE Height, 32 inches; width, 25% inches A young French peasant woman, slender but sturdy, is pictured at full length standing at the foot of arocky mound in a broken country, facing the observer, with her eyes bent upon the ground. She is clad in adark emerald waist and pinkish-gray skirt, and wearsover all a blue hooded cape, which, tied under her chin, falls away in front, the hood framing her face and blondhair in an oval. In one hand she holds a bunch of yel-low-flowered greenery, and a white, shaggy-haired goathas come up and is nibbling at it. The backgroundof mellow-hued earth, rich grasses, weathered buildingsand scraggly trees is bathed in a softened sunlight, which plays amid delicate shadows on the maidens face.
