Veiled little girls laughing, Pemba island, Zanzibar Archipelago, Tanzania I disembarked in Pemba at this fishermen village. Here most of young girls are veiled. On Zanzibar and Tanzanian shore the traditional muslim veil is very colorful with patterns like flowers. Circumstances: Zanzibar was my main stop on my Djibouti-Namibia journey. I did not want to spoil this romantic destination by going there on a ferry boat so I got in a little fisher village next to Tanga in order to negotiate for a lift by a fisher dhow. We did the cruise by night and arrived at the morning at the island of Pemba, at north of Zanzibar, but part of the Zanzibar Archipelago. I had a very nice stay on this island which is not touristic at all since joining it could be only done from Zanzibar itself. Only after a week I joined Zanzibar by an old ferryboat. Both Islands are very different since Pemba contains a lot of hills and vegetation though Zanzibar is flat and little desert compared to the dense forrest on Pemba.
