UNITED STATES - 1950s : Animated. Pan left from the names of five chemical elements: cobalt, iodine, phosphorous, sodium, and nitrogen. Of those, phosphorous is the most leftward. An anthropomorphic atom, dressed in a detective's suit and hat, emerges from the phosphorous label. The atom jumps onto a Geiger counter, which transforms into an anthropomorphic Geiger counter in a detective's coat, hat, and pipe. The counter scans the atom with an instrument. Cross fade to the exterior of an Atomic Research Laboratory from which a truck drives out. The atom and counter hang on the back of the truck.
