View of a cliff tunnel in Jingdi village, Pingshun county, Changzhi city, north China's Shanxi province, 2 January 2016. A cliff tunnel was built by local villagers themselves, which is an inspiring story in itself. More than 800 villagers started to work on the project in Jingdi village, Pingshun county, north China's Shanxi province. It took them 10 years to finish the 1, 526-meter-long tunnel from 1996 to 2006. The wall of the tunnel is uneven and there are more than 35 "windows" of different sizes and shapes. Some windows are round and some are square, and they range from dozens of meters long to standard-window-size. It is frightening to look down from the windows, where strange rocks hanging form the sheer cliff above and a seemingly bottomless pit lying below.
