WATERS EAST OF THE KOREAN PENINSULA (March 22, 2017) The Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) and the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Wayne E. Meyer (DDG 108) steam ahead of USS Stethem (DDG 63) during a surface maenuvers exercise with several other U.S. and Republic of Korea Navy ships and submarines during Foal Eagle (FE) 17. FE 17 is a series of annual training events designed to increase readiness to defend the ROK, protect the region, and maintain stability in the Korean Peninsula.
