Date: 1603-9. The barrel-shaped beaker was in use since sixteenth century, at a time when precious silver vessels of various shapes imitating everyday objects of utilitarian nature were very fashionable-especially in German-speaking cultural centers. They detach in the middle to be used as separate vessels. Museum: Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, USA.
