A March 2017 report by the Bavarian Landeskriminalamt (Crime Office) deemed the act a case of mental illness due to bullying, despite overwhelming evidence of right-wing terror. 18-year-old David S., the deceased shooter, purchased the pistol from a neo-nazi in the Dark Web, idolized Hitler and Anders Breivik, the Norwegian neo-nazi shooter, saw himself as an “Aryan”, and was a fan of the NPD neo-nazi party and the right-extreme AfD party.
