The newest 'weapon' of the Communists in the East-West Berlin cold war is the camera. After weeks of ducking photographs taken from the West, the Communists early this month began shooting pictures themselves across the line. Always in plain view, the photographers seem to be trying to intimidate West Berliners by suggesting that the pictures will be put on file to be used for later identification. The ominous photographing has had no apparent affect on West Berliners, however, who continue to gather by the fence to wave to friends or jeer the 'people's police' guards on the other side. TEM of several red cells in cross-section within the capillary loop (any of the small blood vessels that carry blood in the papillae of the skin) of a glomerulus from the kidney of a mouse. The hemoglobin-containing red cells appear deeply gray and homogeneous because they contain no nuclei. Blood present in the capillary loop filters materials across the thin cellular processes of the endothelium (the gray amorphous basement membrane which surrounds the cells) and between the foot processes of specialized cells (podocytes) that line the urinary space.
